Dr Sanyal was one of 34 selected from all over India to do medical schooling (MBBS) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, which is the premier medical institution of India. Immediately thereafter, he joined an Integrated 5-year Neurosurgical M.Ch position at the same institution which had only one vacancy every year during his time. He thereafter did extensive Fellowship Training in the USA/Canada which made him India’s First Fellowship-trained Vascular-cum-Endovascular Neurosurgeon.
He was awarded the J Douglas Miller Fellowship in Spine Trauma and Neuro-critical Care by the American Association of Neurosurgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He was also awarded an International Paediatric Epilepsy Surgery Fellowship by the American Association of Neurosurgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons, which he pursued at the Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Thereafter, he joined the NH Institute of Neurosciences, Rabindranath Tagore Hospital in his hometown Calcutta, India in 2007 with a dream of starting and establishing Advanced Neurosurgery/Neurointervention in Eastern India.
